Morane-Saulnier Bullet
WW1 Sport/Stunt Plane
|
The Morane-Saulnier Type N, known as the 'Bullet', was the world's first fighter airplane. Using steel wedges on the backs of the propeller blades to deflect any bullets that might hit them, the pilot was able to mount a forward firing machine gun. When one of the Morane-Saulnier Bullets crashed behind enemy lines after shooting 3 German planes it was captured and sent to the Fokker Works to be copied. The new Fokker Eindecker made the Morane-Saulnier obsolete.
