The Demon
American Classic Combat Model

Designed by Riley Wooten in 1964, the Demon recorded top speed 115.34 MPH.   It is a good beginners combat wing that is very easy to build.   Riley Wooten states : "The DEMON is the result of several years designing and testing to get a model stable enough for the novice, yet one that will hold it's own in the best competition."

The American Classic line of kits recreate vintage designs that are styled like, and build like the originals.   While these kits contain laser cut parts along with vacuum formed components to simplify construction, some cutting and shaping is required.

Larry, I just recently built one of your Demon kits.   I purchased the kit approx a year ago.   I finished it last weekend and wanted a flight before the snow hit.   Well, it was really cool I was first going to install a Fox MK3 engine when I was instructed that it would more than likely fold the wing.   I typically fly stunt and this was my first attempt at larger flying wings.   Due to the power of the Fox and the weight more importantly we chose a Russian f2d engine.   This was really mind blowing as I believe we were over 120mph.   I can't believe my son could fly it.   I installed the bladder compartment using the paper towel tube as shown on the plans.   This took a bit of engineering but was well worth it.   I then used a clear film to cover the model which looks real cool.   We also put the shear webbing across all the spars as also depicted.   These little notes were well worth it as I truly believe the model would've folded in half.   I have to say for the money I spent it was truly a lot of fun and well worth the wait.   We would do a little work on it on the rainy days and just enjoy talking about it.   Seeing your recent post in the combat section concerning combat wings surely does have my attention.   I'm not sure which ones you would decide on, but I'm sure they'll be cool nonetheless.   A fellow flier club member always spoke highly of the Nemesis.   I always wanted to make a voodoo but he insists I try a Nemesis.   I see others chimed in concerning this wing as well.

Thanks,
Ken and Shawn Cook
