Cherry Blossom
Japanese Baka Bomb
|
In the closing months of WW II the Japanese made an all out effort to cripple the American fleet that was closing in on their homeland. Part of that effort involved attacking the fleet with a plane that they call the "Cherry Blossom". It was a torpedo size rocket plane that carried 250 lbs of explosives in it's nose with a detonator attached. Due to its small size it could not carry very much fuel so it had to be carried under a bomber to the target area. When released the detonator was armed and the pilot would fire three his rocket motors and start toward the fleet. He would fly in low over the water at 625 mph toward his target. It was almost impossible to stop this attack due to the low level, small size and speed of the aircraft. This 3 in 1 kit (Display, Tether, and Glide) Ideal first kit for the young beginning modeler. It is designed to be a low cost simple wood project for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts or other youth organizations.
